The ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 has witnessed an unprecedented surge in viewership, with the high-octane India-Pakistan clash setting a new global benchmark. This thrilling encounter, held in October 2025, has officially been declared the most-watched women’s international cricket match in history, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

India emerged victorious by 88 runs against their arch-rivals at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The match captivated a massive audience, achieving a staggering reach of 28.4 million viewers and accumulating an incredible 1.87 billion minutes of watch time. These figures not only signify a monumental achievement for women’s cricket but also highlight the growing global appeal of the sport.

Beyond the overall record, the India-Pakistan fixture also stands as the highest-rated league stage match in the annals of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. Furthermore, the India-Australia match on October 12 in Visakhapatnam set another all-time high for women’s cricket, recording a peak of 4.8 million concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, underscoring the immense digital engagement.

The early stages of the tournament have been a resounding success in terms of viewership. The initial 11 matches, including India’s fixtures against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and South Africa, reached an impressive 72 million individuals, marking a significant 166 percent increase compared to the previous edition. Viewing minutes have skyrocketed by 327 percent, hitting 6.3 billion, which clearly demonstrates the deepening emotional connection fans have with the game.

The ICC further elaborated that the first 13 matches of the current tournament have already garnered over 60 million unique viewers, a remarkable five-fold increase from the 2022 edition. Total watch-time has surged to an astounding 7 billion minutes, representing a twelvefold jump from the previous competition, showcasing explosive growth.

Broadcast across Star Sports channels and JioHotstar, the tournament is accessible in five languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. For enhanced inclusivity, commentary is also available in Indian Sign Language. Innovative viewing options such as multi-camera angles and Max View on live streaming further enrich the fan experience.

Hosts India, currently led by Harmanpreet Kaur, are positioned fourth in the league standings with four points from as many matches. Their path to the semi-finals hinges on securing victories in their upcoming league games against England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.
