A prominent Bengaluru entrepreneur has publicly criticized IndiGo’s premium in-flight meal, labeling it ‘tasteless’ and urging the airline to conduct customer surveys. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw shared her disappointment on social media, posting a picture of the meal served to IndiGoStretch passengers. She expressed a preference for the airline’s regular menu items over the so-called ‘gourmet’ offering.

Tagging the airline and its catering partner, Oberoi, Mazumdar-Shaw stated, “Oberoi should rethink this uninviting and tasteless menu. Please do a customer survey, and I’m certain the feedback will be unanimous.” The entrepreneur also shared a snapshot of the menu, which featured items like ‘German lentil and feta salad with beetroot aalouti,’ ‘Lavash with cream cheese yogurt dip,’ and ‘Theedoi tres leches cake.’

The incident has ignited a wider discussion among passengers about the declining quality of airline food. Social media users chimed in, sharing their own negative experiences and agreeing that ‘gourmet’ labels often fail to meet expectations. Many suggested that airlines should prioritize customer feedback to improve their in-flight dining options, with one user humorously suggesting the entrepreneur’s preferred ‘magic upma or noodles or even sandwiches’ would be a better alternative.
