India has officially upgraded its Technical Mission in Kabul to the full Embassy of India in Afghanistan, marking a significant step in deepening bilateral relations. This enhancement signals a strong commitment from India to foster cooperation in areas of shared interest with Afghanistan.

The decision, announced following recent high-level discussions, aims to bolster India’s support for Afghanistan’s development, humanitarian aid, and capacity-building initiatives. These efforts are designed to align with the priorities and aspirations of Afghan society.

This renewed diplomatic presence follows productive talks between India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi in New Delhi. The discussions encompassed various regional developments and mutual concerns, reinforcing India’s dedication to the Afghan people.

During the meeting, Minister Jaishankar highlighted India’s unwavering support for Afghanistan’s developmental goals and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. The elevation to embassy status is expected to further strengthen cooperation, contributing to Afghanistan’s national development and regional stability.
