On National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a solemn tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the iconic Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. This day, commemorating Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary, serves as a powerful reminder of his indispensable role in forging a unified India and celebrating its rich tapestry of diversity.

The Prime Minister participated in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade, an event showcasing the nation’s collective strength and harmonious spirit through impressive ceremonial marches and vibrant cultural displays. During the ceremony, he led participants in taking an oath to uphold the nation’s unity and integrity, pledging, “I take this oath to protect the unity and integrity of our country and dedicate myself to this cause.” This reaffirms a strong commitment to national solidarity and internal security.

Earlier, PM Modi offered prayers and laid floral tributes at the towering statue before the commencement of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade. The parade featured contingents from various security forces, including the BSF, CRPF, and state police, highlighting their role in safeguarding the nation.

In a message shared on X, Prime Minister Modi stated, “India pays homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th Jayanti. He was the driving force behind India’s integration, shaping the nation’s destiny in its formative years. His dedication to unity, good governance, and public service continues to inspire generations.”

Further elaborating on Patel’s legacy in a video message, the Prime Minister described him as the chief architect of India’s unification. He emphasized Patel’s unique talent for bridging ideological divides and uniting people. “He had an exceptional ability to bring people together despite ideological differences. Sardar Patel merged the princely states, united the people with the freedom movement, and strengthened the spirit of unity in diversity,” PM Modi remarked.
