The nation was shocked by a powerful car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, resulting in the tragic deaths of 10 innocent people and injuring many others. Amidst the widespread grief, prominent sports figures like World Cup-winning cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Olympic medal-winning wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have extended their heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families. The blast occurred at a busy traffic signal, causing widespread panic, igniting vehicles, and shattering nearby windows. Eyewitnesses described a deafening roar and thick black smoke billowing from the scene. This incident follows closely on the heels of law enforcement busting a transnational terror module linked to militant groups in Faridabad, where significant quantities of explosives and arms were recovered. Gambhir expressed his sorrow on social media, praying for strength for the bereaved families and a swift recovery for the injured. Bajrang Punia condemned the act, calling it heart-wrenching and devastating, and appealed for a transparent and impartial inquiry into the blast. Vinesh Phogat also joined in mourning the loss of innocent lives and offered her condolences.
