Virat Kohli has seen a significant rise in the latest ICC ODI player rankings, moving up to fifth place. This advancement comes despite Kohli not having played recently, benefiting from the dip in form of Pakistan’s Babar Azam. Azam has dropped two positions from fifth to seventh after a string of low scores against South Africa and Sri Lanka. He failed to reach the 30-run mark in any of his last three ODI innings, losing 19 crucial rating points and accumulating 709 points. Kohli, with 725 rating points, now holds the fifth spot, while Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka sits at sixth.

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma continues his reign at the pinnacle of the ODI batting rankings. Sharma maintains the top position with an impressive 781 rating points, a spot he has held for some time, even during periods of inactivity. His last stellar performance earned him the player of the series award in Australia.

In the bowling department, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan leads the charts with 710 rating points. England’s Jofra Archer has made a notable jump to second place, pushing Keshav Maharaj down the order. For India, only Kuldeep Yadav features in the top 10 bowlers, securing the sixth position with 634 rating points.
