Michelle Obama, the former First Lady, has voiced concerns about America’s readiness to elect a woman as president. Her candid remarks follow the unsuccessful presidential campaigns of prominent female figures like Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. Obama stated at a recent event, promoting her new book, that the nation still has ‘a lot of growing up to do.’ She highlighted a significant hurdle: ‘many men who do not feel they can be led by a woman.’ Obama also pointed to a lack of sufficient opportunities created for women to reach the nation’s highest office.

While Obama remains a powerful voice in the Democratic Party, fueling speculation about her own political ambitions, she has consistently ruled out a presidential run. Back in 2016, she emphatically stated, ‘I will not run for president. No, nope, not going to do it.’ These rumors have occasionally resurfaced, particularly during the recent presidential election cycle involving Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

During the last election, Obama actively supported Kamala Harris, who was a leading Democratic contender. At a rally in Michigan, Obama issued a stark warning against electing Donald Trump, emphasizing the potential negative impacts on women’s health and rights. She urged voters, ‘Please, please do not hand our fates over to the likes of Trump, who knows nothing about us and has shown deep contempt for us. A vote for him is a vote against our health and our worth.’
