Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district have successfully neutralized three Naxalites during a fierce encounter. The eliminated Maoists carried a combined bounty of Rs 15 lakh, highlighting their significance within the insurgent group. The clash occurred in the dense forests near Tumalpad village, straddling the Bhejji and Chintagufa police station areas.
Intelligence reports indicating the presence of Maoists prompted a swift security operation. Following a prolonged exchange of gunfire, the bodies of the three Naxalites, including two women, were recovered. Authorities identified the deceased as Madvi Deva, an area committee member; Podiam Gangi, a commander of the Chetna Natya Mandli (CNM), a Maoist cultural wing; and Sodhi Gangi, an area committee member from Kistaram.
During the search of the encounter site, security personnel seized a cache of weapons and explosives. Recovered items include Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs), a 303 rifle, VGA launchers, and other ammunition. Search operations are continuing in the region, with officials emphasizing the effectiveness of ongoing anti-Naxal operations. This year alone, security forces have neutralized 233 Naxalites in the Bastar range, including high-ranking members and cadres of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA). The government remains committed to eradicating Naxalism nationwide.
