A significant security incident unfolded this morning in Peshawar as gunmen launched a coordinated assault on the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in the Saddar area. The attack commenced around 8 am with two powerful explosions that reportedly shattered windows in nearby structures. This was followed by intense gunfire, leading to an immediate and robust response from security forces. Authorities quickly sealed off Saddar Road, diverting all traffic as the situation escalated.

Initial reports from the Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police confirmed that suicide bombers were responsible for the explosions, suggesting a deliberate attempt to breach the heavily guarded facility. The scale of the operation prompted the deployment of additional security units and the activation of city-wide emergency protocols. This incident amplifies growing concerns about the resurgence of extremist activities in the region.

Eyewitnesses and residents in the vicinity of the FC headquarters described hearing multiple blasts and sustained gunfire, creating an atmosphere of panic. Social media platforms were flooded with videos and accounts from individuals reporting loud, explosion-like sounds originating from the FC headquarters and the nearby FC Chowk. Police have since confirmed at least two major blasts.

Security forces are actively engaged in an operation to neutralize the attackers. While the situation remains dynamic and ongoing, official information regarding casualties has not yet been released. The ongoing engagement highlights the persistent threat faced by Pakistan’s security personnel and the critical need for enhanced counterterrorism strategies. Further updates are anticipated as the operation progresses.
