Jharkhand Govt Accused of Fabricating Crimes to Conceal Offenses

A serious allegation has been leveled against the Jharkhand state government, accusing it of creating new crimes to cover up existing ones. Babu Lal Marandi, the state president of the BJP and leader of the opposition, stated that the practice of fabricating incidents to hide crimes has become a disturbing norm for the government and its administrative systems. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the coal sector of Dhanbad have brought to light alarming evidence of illegal activities. Even more concerning is the alleged directive from some ‘top police officials’, whose wealth is reportedly fueled by the illicit coal trade, to eliminate key operatives of coal mafias permanently. This is reportedly being done to prevent crucial information from reaching investigative agencies. There are credible reports suggesting that individuals being interrogated by the ED are targets of assassination plots, designed to suppress the truth from emerging. This mirrors past instances in the state where ‘evidence encounters’ were orchestrated under the guise of apprehending criminals. Jharkhand has previously witnessed a Director General of Police (DGP) accused of orchestrating contract killings and amassing unprecedented corruption, with even ruling party members voicing these concerns. The ED is urged to proceed with extreme caution, as in this state, those who suppress truth often wield more power than those who speak it. When power, the system, and criminal elements align, the subversion of justice becomes a mere formality.
