Congress Cites Seat-Sharing Snafu, Cash Bonanza in Bihar Election Review

The Congress party is dissecting its significant electoral defeat in Bihar, with a recent review meeting pointing fingers at several key factors. Top leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, met with candidates and state officials to analyze the shortcomings. Among the primary concerns raised were delays in finalizing seat-sharing agreements within the Mahagathbandhan alliance, alleged electoral malpractices, and a significant cash incentive program introduced by the state government. Candidates shared their perspectives, highlighting how the Rs 10,000 bonanza for women voters, internal party rifts, and what they termed as ‘electoral malpractices’ contributed to the dismal performance.
