A sophisticated and ruthless propaganda campaign is underway, orchestrated by Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir, aimed at manipulating global superpowers into confronting the Taliban in Afghanistan. This strategy leverages recent terror incidents to position Afghanistan as a primary global threat, thereby compelling the US and China to take military action against the Taliban. The plan is characterized by a profound hypocrisy, as Pakistan, a nation with a long history of harboring and exporting terrorism, now claims victimhood and points fingers at Afghanistan.

Two specific events have been central to Munir’s narrative: an attack on National Guard soldiers near the White House involving an Afghan national, and a drone strike in Tajikistan that killed Chinese workers, allegedly launched from Afghan territory. Pakistan is actively disseminating information to portray Taliban-controlled Afghanistan as an immediate global menace. This aggressive diplomatic and informational offensive seeks to secure the backing of the United States and China to achieve what Pakistan’s military has reportedly been unable to accomplish on its own.

The narrative is further complicated by the Taliban’s response. A Taliban spokesperson accused Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, of orchestrating these incidents to frame the Taliban and disrupt Afghanistan’s burgeoning international relationships, particularly with India. This counter-accusation suggests a deep-seated geopolitical struggle, where Pakistan aims to maintain influence by instigating conflict, employing tactics such as false flag operations and strategic disinformation to achieve its objectives.
