Damoh’s health department rolled out an enlightening program under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, focusing on nutrition and wellness for pregnant women. Hosted in a bustling village hall, the camp featured live demonstrations and expert talks that engaged over 50 participants.

Nutritionists highlighted pregnancy-specific meal plans, advocating for protein-packed dals, dairy, and fruits to combat anemia. They explained how PMMVY provides financial aid—Rs 3,000 for the first installment post-conception confirmation, followed by subsequent payments—directly into bank accounts via DBT.

Practical sessions included yoga for expecting mothers, hydration tips, and hygiene protocols to prevent infections. Doctors stressed timely vaccinations and ultrasound scans, sharing success stories of healthy deliveries from scheme beneficiaries.

Community leaders joined to encourage enrollment, countering myths about government schemes. ‘This is our right and responsibility,’ urged one elder. The event concluded with on-spot registrations and free health check-ups, boosting participation rates.

Madhya Pradesh has seen PMMVY expand to second pregnancies in some cases, with Damoh leading rural outreach. Officials aim to integrate digital tracking for faster disbursals, enhancing scheme efficiency. Such grassroots efforts are vital in bridging urban-rural health divides.
