Union Home Minister and BJP strategist par excellence Amit Shah will formally inaugurate the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign for the Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, marking a crucial phase in the party’s southern expansion plans. This development underscores the BJP’s renewed vigor to penetrate Kerala’s entrenched political duopoly.

With polls looming on the horizon, Shah’s intervention is timed perfectly to galvanize the BJP’s organizational machinery. His track record of turning electoral fortunes in states like Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal has party workers optimistic. The launch rally promises to be a spectacle, drawing thousands of supporters eager for Shah’s blueprint to transform Kerala.

The BJP’s Kerala unit has been toiling tirelessly, strengthening its base through grassroots mobilization and targeted outreach. Key planks of the campaign include robust economic policies, zero-tolerance on terrorism, and preserving Kerala’s cultural heritage against ‘appeasement politics.’ Shah is expected to hammer home these messages while critiquing the Pinarayi Vijayan government’s handling of crises like the 2018 floods and recent financial woes.

Over the past decade, the BJP’s vote share in Kerala has surged from negligible levels to over 12% in 2021, with notable performances in Thrissur and Nemom. This momentum, coupled with national leadership’s focus, positions the party for potential double-digit seats.

Shah’s two-day visit will feature strategy sessions with candidates, digital campaign workshops, and public meetings across key constituencies. The party aims to field strong contenders in all 140 seats, emphasizing winnability and local connect.

Rivals are on high alert. The ruling LDF warns of ‘communal polarization,’ and UDF vows to protect secularism. Yet, BJP insiders predict Shah’s visit will shift narratives, spotlighting governance failures and development aspirations.

This campaign kickoff isn’t merely ceremonial; it’s a declaration of intent. As Kerala voters weigh their options amid economic headwinds and social challenges, the BJP under Shah’s guidance eyes a historic inroad into state power.
