Harshwardhan Sapkal, a prominent NCP figure, launched a scathing critique against CM Devendra Fadnavis, alleging his administration is deliberately steering Maharashtra towards Bihar’s underdeveloped framework. During a public address, Sapkal outlined a series of policy failures that he claims mirror Bihar’s long-standing issues.

Drawing parallels, Sapkal noted Maharashtra’s surging unemployment rates and rural distress, reminiscent of Bihar’s chronic problems. ‘Fadnavis wants to make Maharashtra the new Bihar—poor infrastructure, neglected agriculture, and youth fleeing for jobs elsewhere,’ he declared.

He delved into data, citing official figures on farm loan waivers denied to Maharashtra while others benefited, and industrial projects allegedly handed to Fadnavis allies. This, Sapkal argued, creates a lopsided economy favoring the elite.

Political observers see this as part of a broader opposition strategy to corner the BJP-led government. Fadnavis responded indirectly, emphasizing his record of attracting investments worth billions. Yet, Sapkal’s narrative taps into public frustrations over inflation and job scarcity.

With elections looming, such accusations could sway undecided voters. Sapkal called for a ‘Maharashtra-first’ agenda, promising NCP’s commitment to sustainable growth. The debate underscores deepening divides in the state’s political landscape.
