In a scathing critique of Delhi’s deteriorating security, Leader of Opposition Atishi has written to Amit Shah requesting a meeting to discuss the rampant violence gripping the city. From daylight assassinations to terror blasts, the capital is under siege, leaving citizens questioning their safety.

Detailing a series of horrifying events, Atishi pointed to the cold-blooded murder of AAP activist Rachna Yadav right by the CM’s home. The perpetrators asked her name before shooting, underscoring it as a hit linked to her upcoming court testimony in her spouse’s killing.

She recounted the deadly car explosion at Lal Qila on November 10, 2025, killing 13 and probed by NIA, shattering illusions of security around key sites. A police constable’s attempted robbery in December 2025 further tarnished the force’s image, revealing internal rot possibly fueled by drugs or stress.

Gang violence peaked with the public execution in posh Greater Kailash in September 2025, owned up by notorious gangs, and successive shootings across neighborhoods in mid-January 2026. Atishi accused the police of inaction despite central oversight, arguing that Delhi’s lawlessness isn’t just local—it’s a national embarrassment.

‘Citizens are asking: if the capital isn’t safe, who can they trust?’ she wrote, positioning her plea as a constitutional duty to amplify public outrage. The letter calls for immediate intervention to restore order and reassure a panicked populace.
