In a landmark gathering in Toronto on January 21, the Indian Consulate General spotlighted the ‘India-Canada AI Dialog 2026’, championing responsible AI development. The event highlighted India’s leadership in creating AI systems that are inclusive and beneficial to society, with bilateral ties poised to drive economic and social progress.

Partnering with Waterloo University in Ontario, the Canada India Tech Council, and Zoho Inc., this pre-summit dialog drew over 600 elite participants nationwide. Corporate leaders, policy shapers, academics, and tech innovators converged to strategize deeper India-Canada synergies in AI.

Designed as one of the select lead-up events to New Delhi’s ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ on February 19-20, it fostered vibrant discussions on accelerating cooperative frameworks.

High Commissioner Dinesh K. Patnaik captured the essence: ‘The India-Canada AI Dialog 2026 embodies our shared vision for responsible AI evolution. With the summit on the horizon, this engagement underscores Canada’s role as a reliable partner in promoting globally relevant, ethical innovations.’

Minister Ivan Solomon of Canada affirmed AI’s immediate relevance: ‘It’s our joint duty—India and Canada—to harness this tech for human welfare, societal resilience, and tangible economic gains.’

Premier Doug Ford lauded the robust trade-investment-tech bonds and thanked the Consulate for spearheading such initiatives. Acting Consul General Kapidhwaj Pratap Singh noted Toronto’s vibrant AI landscape, positioning the dialog as a pivotal bridge between the two countries’ innovation ecosystems.

This event signals a new era of strategic alignment, with Toronto solidifying its place as an international AI nexus and both nations gearing up for pioneering advancements.
