A potential catastrophe was averted at a government school in Ranchi’s Silli block thanks to the swift actions of teachers and local residents. On Tuesday morning, a wild hyena entered the campus of the Patrahatu village school, where more than 50 children were present. As the animal entered a classroom, the teachers immediately prioritized the safety of the students, moving them to secure locations. Simultaneously, brave villagers worked together to lock the hyena inside a room, preventing any direct confrontation. The situation remained tense for several hours as the forest department was called in. A team from the Birsa Munda Biological Park arrived with specialized equipment and successfully captured the hyena after a three-hour standoff. Local authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported during the entire episode. The rescued animal was safely transported in a cage to the zoo for a health checkup.
