President Donald Trump’s bold ‘Board of Peace’ initiative has hit another roadblock, with Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson publicly declining participation in Davos. This mirrors rejections from France and Norway, signaling growing European unease over the proposal’s structure and implications.

Norway’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik was blunt in an interview, stating Oslo would not join any mechanism eroding UN principles. France’s Emmanuel Macron echoed this at the WEF, rejecting it as a UNSC substitute. The UK’s reservations stem from offers to Putin and Lukashenko, as per a Reuters-reviewed draft where Trump assumes lifelong leadership, starting with Gaza and expanding later.

Amid the pushback, Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu has embraced the role. His office announced acceptance on X, positioning him among global leaders tackling Gaza issues. Yet, Israel fumed earlier over the U.S. announcing a Gaza administrative board without consultation, especially irked by Turkey’s involvement, prompting talks with Marco Rubio.

Supporters include Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Morocco, UAE, and Vietnam. This ties into Trump’s second-phase Gaza plan, launching the NCAG for administration and funding, supported by the ‘Board of Peace’ and a Gaza Executive Board.

Diplomatic sources warn of UN disruption, per The Times of Israel. Sweden’s no heightens fears Trump seeks a rival to established international bodies. As Gaza reconstruction hangs in balance, the board’s future remains uncertain, highlighting fractures in global alliances.
