Pensioners rejoice! The Indian government’s latest digital upgrade connects the Sampann portal—dedicated to telecom retirees—with the popular DigiLocker platform. Unveiled this Wednesday, the integration means no more chasing papers for e-Payment Orders, gratuity details, or vital forms.
Under the Digital India banner, the Controller General of Communication Accounts has rolled out this user-friendly feature. Telecom department pensioners are already notified, and accessing documents is straightforward: log in, input PPO number, select category, and click to generate. Whether it’s a pension certificate, gratuity payment order, commutation details, or Form-16, it’s all auto-generated and stored securely in DigiLocker.
Ministry of Communications officials emphasize the convenience—smartphones or desktops, anytime, anywhere. ‘Paperwork ends here; time and money saved for pensioners,’ said Ashish Joshi, Principal Controller in Delhi. This empowers retirees with digital independence, fitting perfectly into paperless governance goals.
Since its inception by PM Modi in 2018, Sampann has digitized the entire pension lifecycle: from application processing and e-PPO issuance to payments, accounting, audits, and grievance redressal. No more office queues for families of retired employees.
For usage, head to DigiLocker’s government site, authenticate with Aadhaar, link PPO, and voila—documents at your fingertips. This upgrade streamlines critical tasks like bank updates and health claims, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and enhancing service delivery in a post-pandemic world.
