Delhi Capitals’ dream run in WPL 2026 hit a minor snag after their dominant win against Mumbai Indians. Star opener Lizelle Lee, whose blistering 46 nearly turned into a match-winning fifty, was slapped with a 10% fine on her match fee for conduct violation.

The drama unfolded in Vadodara’s BCA Stadium during Delhi’s chase. Mumbai posted 154/5 batting first, but Lee’s aggressive start—featuring seven boundaries and a massive six—threatened to end the game early. Stumped off the 11th over after a tense DRS review, Lee was caught short as her bat hovered above the crease.

Unsatisfied with the call, Lee argued animatedly with umpire Vrinda Rathi, breaching code Article 2.2 (Level 1). She pleaded guilty, incurring the penalty and a demerit point, as per the match referee’s binding ruling.

Lee’s season stats are impressive: 213 runs in five games at 42.60 average, ranking her among the top scorers with explosive strokeplay. Acquired for 30 lakhs, the South African has been Delhi’s batting powerhouse. While the fine is a blip, it underscores WPL’s strict enforcement of player behavior amid rising competitiveness.
