The aftermath of BMC polls has turned Mumbai into a battleground for the mayor’s chair, with Mahayuti’s win failing to quell infighting. Shiv Sena (UBT) firebrand Priyanka Chaturvedi has unleashed a barrage of criticism against Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and BJP, spotlighting the bizarre confinement of 29 councillors in a hotel.
In an IANS interview, the MP painted a picture of distrust. ‘Shinde’s betrayal of his party is evident. He handed tickets via cash and clout, not merit,’ she charged. ‘Locking up 29 councillors like prisoners shows he doubts their allegiance. BJP lurks to flip them, so he’s playing safe.’
Delving deeper, Chaturvedi highlighted the power equation: BJP leads in seats but needs Shiv Sena to install its mayor. ‘This hotel drama is Shinde’s bid to squeeze concessions from BJP,’ she noted. The squabble boils down to who gets the mayor—fueling accusations that Mahayuti’s ‘grand victory’ rests on falsehoods.
Chaturvedi scorned the alliance as ‘Mahajhootha,’ alleging it grabbed Maharashtra through lies and now schemes the same for BMC. ‘They care zilch for Mumbaikars,’ she said. Shifting gears, she backed the Bangladesh evacuation, pointing to relentless killings, lynchings, Hindu perils, and surging India-bashing. ‘Diplomatic families face real dangers—no place for them now,’ she emphasized, calling for accountability in local politics.
