In a powerful address at the closing ceremony of the 86th All India Conference of Presiding Officers in Lucknow, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared the legislature as democracy’s core, guiding paths to justice, equity, and national sovereignty.

Over three intensive days, leaders from every corner of India exchanged insights, resulting in six landmark resolutions for a developed India by 2047. Yogi praised the event for infusing fresh momentum into democratic frameworks.

He thanked Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh for their contributions, emphasizing how legislatures ensure justice delivery, empower schemes for societal growth, and showcase sovereignty via balanced discourse between consensus and dissent.

Prime Minister Modi often calls India the mother of democracy, with panchayat traditions predating formal systems, Yogi noted. Despite diverse cultures, the nation bonds through shared spirit from north to south.

Reflecting on his parliamentary journey—five Lok Sabha terms—he discussed enhancing assembly proceedings. In UP, question time now features 20 MLAs voicing 20 queries, a vast improvement.

The voices of the marginalized reach the legislature through representatives, he affirmed. UP’s marathon debates on development visions involved 377 lawmakers, bolstered by inputs from 500+ experts visiting 75 districts, yielding 9.8 million ideas processed via IIT Kanpur.

Pioneering paperless operations save paper and protect the environment, while tech training keeps reps updated. Assemblies should sit at least 30 days yearly, running late into nights in UP for maximum productivity.

From burning national issues to constitutional commemorations, UP legislatures actively deliberate and act. Yogi vowed full implementation of the conference’s pledges, positioning it as a hub for excellence exchange.
