Harare’s Takashinga Sports Club witnessed a batting masterclass as England racked up 404/6 against Scotland in the U19 World Cup 2026 Group C encounter. Opener Ben Mays was the wrecking ball, smashing 191 runs from 117 deliveries, his innings studded with 18 boundaries and 8 towering sixes. Joseph Moore’s 81 provided sturdy support, leaving Scotland a mountain to climb.

The Scots never recovered, succumbing for 152 all out in 44.5 overs. Finley Carter’s 34 was the brightest spark in a dismal effort, with Max Chaplin adding 22. England’s comprehensive 252-run win sends a strong message to rivals.

Over in Windhoek, Afghanistan toyed with Tanzania in Group D, securing a 9-wicket triumph. Tanzania’s innings was a sorry affair, bowled out for 85 in 36 overs. Agustino Meya Mwambele scraped 14, but the lineup lacked fight, managing just two fours.

Afghanistan’s Nooristani Umarzai tore through them with 5 wickets for 9 runs, while Uzairullah Niyazi grabbed 2. Faisal Shinwarzada then blazed 55 not out off 34 balls (9×4, 1×6) to chase down 86 in a brisk 12.4 overs. With this, Afghanistan joins South Africa in advancing, while West Indies and Tanzania pack their bags.

As the group stages heat up, these lopsided contests highlight the tournament’s competitive edges and the promise of explosive talents emerging.
