A promising young woman’s life was snuffed out in a shocking road mishap on Jaipur’s expressway. Eighteen-year-old Anaya Sharma, dreaming of joining the Indian Air Force, was fatally struck by a recklessly driven black Thar SUV during her routine morning jog on Wednesday.
Hailing from Jhunjhunu, Anaya had relocated to Jaipur with her sister to focus on her physical fitness training for the Air Force exams. The sisters were running in the Shanti Bagh stretch when the high-speed vehicle crashed into them from the rear, hurling Anaya to the ground with critical injuries.
Paramedics battled to save her at the hospital, but she succumbed to her wounds. The driver, overcome by fear, sped off, smashing into another car en route before ditching the SUV at Dadi ka Phatak and vanishing. Kardhani police have seized the abandoned vehicle and launched a manhunt.
‘Special investigation units are deployed, combing through CCTV networks and digital trails,’ a senior officer revealed. Anaya’s body underwent postmortem and was released to her family for funeral rites in their hometown.
Fury gripped the community as news spread. Protesters gathered, slamming the authorities for lax policing on high-speed corridors. ‘How many more lives before action is taken?’ they questioned. Officials pledged a thorough probe and stringent punishment for the offender.
Anaya’s untimely demise highlights the perils of irresponsible driving amid rising vehicle ownership. Experts advocate for mandatory black boxes in SUVs and harsher penalties to deter such atrocities. Her aspiration to serve the nation now echoes as a call for safer streets.
