Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off National Girl Child Day with an inspiring post on X, sending greetings to girls across India and reiterating the government’s resolve to empower them. Observed every January 24, this day spotlights the vital role of girls in nation’s progress.

PM Modi noted the significant strides made in the last 10 years, including enhanced focus on education, skills training, and health services. ‘This has built a nurturing ecosystem for girls to flourish and play a key role in Developed India,’ he wrote.

Joining the chorus, Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi invoked the mantra ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.’ She stressed that girls form the bedrock of societal advancement and called for their education, security, and empowerment. The ministry, she affirmed, is steadfastly working towards these goals under PM Modi’s guidance.

Launched in 2008, National Girl Child Day combats deep-rooted issues like sex-selective abortions, skewed child sex ratios, early marriages, and limited access to schooling and nutrition. It promotes mindset shifts to value girls equally, fostering their all-round development.

The initiative dovetails with broader national agendas, including women-led development and the 2047 vision for a prosperous India. Minister Devi urged everyone to commit to creating secure, respectful environments where girls can chase their aspirations confidently.

As messages pour in, the day underscores ongoing challenges and celebrates achievements. From policy reforms to grassroots awareness, India’s multi-pronged approach continues to uplift girl children, ensuring they lead the charge in shaping tomorrow’s India.
