Shivam Dube delivered a masterclass in aggressive T20 batting during India’s fourth T20I against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam, despite the team’s 50-run defeat. His lightning-quick 50 off 15 balls has catapulted him to third place among Indians with the fastest T20I half-centuries.

The record belongs to Yuvraj Singh, whose iconic 12-ball fifty against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup remains unbeaten. Yuvraj’s knock in Durban set the benchmark for power-hitting that still stands today.

Abhishek Sharma sits pretty in second position, thanks to his 14-ball blitz in Guwahati against the same New Zealand side earlier in the series. Dube’s effort now comfortably places him ahead of Hardik Pandya, who scored off 16 balls versus South Africa in Ahmedabad in 2025.

Rounding out the top five is Abhishek Sharma again, with a 17-ball fifty against England at Wankhede in 2025. This list highlights the emergence of fearless young batters pushing the boundaries of T20 cricket.

Dube’s over of destruction came against Ish Sodhi in the 12th over, where he plundered 28 runs including two boundaries and three massive sixes, plus a double and a wide. This performance ties him with Rohit Sharma for third-most runs in a T20I over by an Indian.

Yuvraj’s legendary 36-run over with six sixes leads the charts, followed by Sanju Samson’s 30 runs against Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain in 2024.

Dube’s knock not only boosted India’s scoring rate but also signaled his growing maturity as a middle-order enforcer. As T20 cricket evolves, such innings become the new normal for Indian batters aiming to dominate global stages.
