In a significant step towards empowering women across India, the National Commission for Women (NCW) is organizing ‘Shakti Samvad’ starting today at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This capacity-building meet with State Women’s Commissions (SWCs) will span two days, fostering dialogue on critical issues affecting women’s rights.

The initiative seeks to bolster institutional synergy, disseminate effective strategies, and elevate the operational strengths of state-level bodies. Coming hot on the heels of back-to-back successes in Ayodhya and Mumbai, this third edition within a year highlights NCW’s proactive approach to collaborative governance in gender equity.

The program will see participation from SWCs nationwide, transforming it into a comprehensive national conversation. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s inaugural address will launch proceedings, alongside the release of ‘SafarNama’—a heartfelt collection of NCW staff narratives. Prizes for ‘Stay Safe Online’ poster contest victors will also be distributed, promoting digital safety awareness.

Sessions will delve into optimizing complaint resolution and inquiry processes, enhancing helpline services and data management systems, scrutinizing state laws, and deepening NCW-SWC partnerships in litigation. Participants will strategize on eradicating child marriages, planning grassroots public hearings at district levels, and showcasing path-breaking innovations from states.

‘It’s a collective pledge, not just a conference,’ stated NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar. ‘Unified efforts mean swifter actions and practical solutions that resonate at the grassroots.’ She stressed the need for sustained interactions to bridge laws and real-world impact for every woman.

Expect robust action plans emerging from this forum, cementing a network of empowered commissions dedicated to safeguarding women’s security and empowerment throughout the nation.
