Ahmedabad’s Crime Branch delivered swift justice in a daring residential theft, apprehending two thieves and reclaiming property worth Rs 1.47 crore from a doctor’s home in Satellite’s Manekbagh Society. The incident unfolded during the Uttarayan holidays from January 11 to 16, as the family vacationed outside the city, leaving their house unattended.
Seizing the opportunity, the intruders ransacked the property, fleeing with substantial cash and precious jewels. A detailed probe ensued post-FIR, involving exhaustive CCTV reviews from more than 200 cameras and advanced surveillance techniques that pinpointed the suspects.
Identified as Kamlesh ‘Guggu’ Parmar of Chandkheda and Mehul Parmar of Shahpur—natives of Banaskantha—the pair had a history of crime. Notably, Kamlesh faces over 10 charges for break-ins and thefts in Ahmedabad and surrounding regions.
The haul boasts Rs 45 lakh cash, gold pieces appraised at Rs 1.01 crore, silver items at Rs 50,000, and diamonds. Officials estimate the total recovery at Rs 1.5 crore. With cases filed under BNS provisions, the police are digging deeper into potential connections with other local heists, highlighting vulnerabilities during festive periods.
