In a bold stride towards sustainable energy, Gujarat commands the forefront of India’s renewable revolution, holding 16.50 percent of the country’s total capacity at 42.583 GW by late 2025. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s proactive governance has catapulted the state to number one in wind power (14,820.94 MW) and rooftop solar, while solar capacity at 25,529.40 MW keeps it a close second overall.

Breaking down the solar dominance: 17,771.21 MW from large-scale ground projects, 6,412.80 MW from 1.1 million rooftops under schemes like PM Surya Ghar and Surya Gujarat, plus hybrids and off-grid systems. Farmers benefit from 12,700 solar pumps under PM KUSUM, generating 89.54 MW. Wind farms thrive in Kutch, Jamnagar, and beyond, with 80 percent on government-allotted lands equipped with robust infrastructure.

Landmark sites like Khavda’s mega park, aiming for 37.35 GW with recent 11.33 GW output, underscore innovation. Policies since 1993—solar in 2009, hybrids in 2018, and the 2023 RE Policy—promote battery storage, repowering, and private investment via digital portals. Net metering has enabled 6.40 GW rooftop capacity.

Currently, 5,203 projects are underway: 32.22 GW solar, 15 GW wind, and 21.15 GW hybrids, totaling 68.37 GW addition. At RE Invest 2024 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat pledged 105 GW by 2030, contributing 20 percent to national targets. This surge creates jobs, cuts emissions, and builds a resilient energy future.
