India’s healthcare landscape is set for a holistic overhaul, thanks to landmark budget provisions for AYUSH systems. Speaking in New Delhi on Monday, Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav described the allocations as a masterstroke linking health initiatives to rural economies, exports, jobs for youth, and startup ecosystems.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech spotlighted comprehensive support for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. From academic expansion and research breakthroughs to stringent quality checks and medical tourism hubs, the budget lays the groundwork for a world-class, all-encompassing health framework.

At the forefront are three upcoming All India Institutes of Ayurveda, poised to revolutionize higher education, advanced studies, scientific inquiry, and patient care through integrated approaches.

Pharmacy modernizations and lab enhancements will ensure AYUSH products meet international benchmarks, spurring exports, building public confidence, and supporting farmers cultivating herbal crops alongside small-scale pharma enterprises.

Elevating the Jamnagar WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre will position India as a beacon for global research collaborations, skill-building programs, and policy forums in ancient healing arts.

Five new Regional Medical Value Tourism Hubs will feature AYUSH facilities, offering seamless fusion of contemporary medicine, time-honored therapies, wellness retreats, and recovery programs to attract global visitors.

Adding to this, caregiver training under NSQF now embeds yoga and wellness modules, with plans to skill 1.5 lakh professionals annually. This focus on preventive care and senior support aligns perfectly with demographic shifts.

As Jadhav noted, these investments transform traditional systems into engines of prevention, prosperity, and international prestige, heralding India’s ascent as the epicenter of integrated healthcare.
