In a swift response to rising political rhetoric, Andhra Pradesh authorities have slapped a criminal case on YSRCP firebrand Jogi Ramesh for his provocative statements against CM Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh. The Ibrahimpatnam police acted on a TDP leader’s complaint, marking yet another flashpoint in the state’s charged political landscape.

Tensions boiled over when TDP workers retaliated by storming Ramesh’s home on Sunday. Protesting his barbs, the group tore down posters, forced entry, ransacked the interior, and ignited fires inside. YSRCP alleges petrol bombs were hurled, intensifying claims of orchestrated violence. Fortunately, Ramesh was away, arriving only after midnight.

This wasn’t an isolated event. Just prior, on Saturday evening, a TDP mob targeted Ambati Rambabu’s property over his slurs against Naidu. The furious crowd wrecked his office, home, and cars, with some vehicles reduced to ashes. While YSRCP cried foul over an assassination bid, Rambabu found himself in custody.

Charged with disrupting public order, unlawful assembly, and provocative language that stirred unrest, the former minister was hauled before a court and jailed for a fortnight in Rajamahendravaram. Police actions underscore efforts to curb the cycle of inflammatory speeches fueling mob violence.

As Andhra’s ruling TDP-led coalition grapples with opposition backlash, these incidents signal deepening divisions. With FIRs flying from all sides, the state machinery is under scrutiny to maintain law and order amid this partisan frenzy. Political observers warn that without de-escalation, such confrontations could spiral into broader chaos.
