A landmark tariff reduction by the United States on imports from India has been celebrated by New Delhi. Cutting duties from 25% to 18%, President Donald Trump has opened fresh avenues for Indian exports, according to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Posting on social media platform X, Vaishnaw welcomed the decision, noting that India and America, as fellow giants of democracy, possess strengths that perfectly align. Together, they can pioneer technologies and solutions benefiting the global community, he asserted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier shared his joy following a call with his ‘dear friend’ President Trump. ‘Thrilled to hear that tariffs on Made in India products will now be 18%,’ Modi wrote, extending thanks from India’s massive populace.

The PM emphasized the power of collaboration between the world’s biggest economies and democracies, promising gains for people and endless opportunities in shared endeavors. He also praised Trump’s leadership in global peace efforts, vowing India’s full support.

Vaishnaw reinforced that this trade pact is mutually advantageous, propelling both nations toward prosperity. Industries stand to gain immensely, while citizens reap the rewards of enhanced bilateral ties. The agreement underscores a strategic partnership poised for unprecedented growth amid international uncertainties.
