Rising star Zoya Afroz is grabbing headlines with her role in the hit web series ‘Taskari’. Speaking at the premiere of ‘Gandhi Talks’ – a silent masterpiece composed by A.R. Rahman – the actress shared her unfiltered views on religion’s non-role in her career trajectory.

In an exclusive chat with IANS, Zoya refuted notions of discrimination based on faith. ‘I’ve never encountered any prejudice in the industry because of my religion,’ she stated. ‘Our nation celebrates diversity, and I believe we should uphold this unity moving forward.’

Zoya also touched on the responsibilities of filmmakers. ‘Movies are society’s reflection; they show reality unfiltered,’ she noted. ‘Content unfit for kids needs restrictions, which is precisely what certification boards enforce effectively.’

Directed by Kishore Belhekar, ‘Gandhi Talks’ satirizes the disconnect between Gandhi’s portrait on money and his principles of simplicity. Centered on a struggling youth whose world flips upon meeting a thief, the film uses humor and silence to critique modern greed and ethics.

Starring heavyweights Aditi Rao Hydari, Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, and Siddharth Jadhav, this film arrives as a timely reminder of cinema’s power to provoke introspection amid bustling industry trends.
