Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to host a grand dinner for the 50 BJP councilors who scripted history by clinching control of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The event, scheduled for February 13 at his residence, honors their feat in ending the LDF’s 40-year reign in the city.

Under Mayor VV Rajesh’s leadership, the councilors will depart Kochi on February 9 via the Kerala Express. Enthusiastic BJP workers from various states have planned receptions at key stations, making the train journey a triumphant procession across India.

This isn’t just a local party; it’s a strategic showcase. The delegation will tour significant Delhi landmarks and witness the launch of the Thiruvananthapuram Development Vision document. Central leadership views this as a pivotal moment, transforming a municipal poll outcome into a blueprint for broader electoral gains in Kerala.

Modi previously celebrated the verdict as a landmark etched in history, personally writing to the mayor and deputy mayor. Gaining power with an independent’s backing underscores the rarity of such an invitation, especially since BJP holds no seats in the state assembly. It reflects the national brass’s commitment to nurturing this foothold.
