In a bold standoff, Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress chief and Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader, orchestrated a mass walkout from the Upper House today. The trigger? PM Modi’s ongoing reply to the President’s address, amid claims of systematic suppression of dissent.

Post-walkout, Kharge unleashed a barrage of criticisms. Over four days, Rahul Gandhi has been repeatedly silenced in Lok Sabha, he charged. ‘We stand united to address democracy’s health, public relief, US-farmer deal betrayals, Trump’s influence on policy, foreign affairs mishaps, social inequities, and youth unemployment. Every MP was ready to speak.’

He accused the ruling dispensation of a deliberate strategy. ‘No hooliganism from us – just demands for our turn. Yet, they let one speaker rant abuses against our freedom fighters who sacrificed for India, with BJP mute. We’ve had enough.’

Kharge emphasized Parliament’s dual-chamber essence. ‘Lok Sabha paralysis stems from denying the Opposition Leader a voice. This isn’t good for country or democracy.’ The walkout, he clarified, protests both current insults and broader gag tactics to conceal policy flaws.

As Modi continued undeterred, the episode underscores escalating partisan battles. Opposition vows no return without speaking rights, potentially derailing proceedings. With national issues piling up, will the government relent or double down? The coming days will test India’s parliamentary resilience.
