South-West district police in Delhi struck gold against organized crime, busting a cross-state mobile snatching gang and recovering dozens of high-value phones. One key accused is in custody, a teenage accomplice detained, and 46 pilfered devices—including premium iPhones—restored to victims thanks to meticulous police work.

It all started with a theft complaint via e-FIR at Sarojini Nagar market on December 27. CCTV analysis revealed shady figures lurking nearby. Reliable intelligence led SI Anoop Kumar and HC Rajendra to arrest a 15-year-old boy at the market’s Gate 2 the following day.

The minor spilled details under questioning, admitting to snatchings in packed markets and naming Abhishek Kumar alias Shubham (27) as his receiver. SHO Atul Tyagi’s squad, overseen by ACP Safdarjung Enclave, stormed the gang’s Ghazipur rental, nabbing Shubham and seizing 34 phones plus 23 covers.

Advanced tools like IMEI tracking and CEIR portal helped recover 12 additional phones. Following documentation and identity verification, owners reclaimed their property at the station.

The gang favored winter crowds, masking thefts with polythene for sleight-of-hand tricks and jacket hideaways. Phones went straight to Shubham for export to Nepal and Bangladesh through proxies.

The raid resolved 10 e-FIRs from multiple Delhi stations—Sarojini Nagar, Hauz Khas, Rajender Nagar, and others—while 37 phones matched lost item reports.

This victory underscores South-West Delhi Police’s prowess in tech-driven policing and commitment to community trust, with promises of relentless crime-fighting ahead.
