    Bastar Pandum is a festival of tribal art and tradition

    Raipur, February 06, 2026/ President Smt. Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the ‘Bastar Pandum-2026’, a grand gathering of tribal culture, on February 7, 2026. The divisional level Bastar Pandum will be organized till February 9. This three-day cultural festival of the tribal society is a celebration of preserving and showcasing tribal lifestyle, beliefs, customs, and cultural heritage. Bastar Pandum is a festival associated with folk art and culture and local traditions. This festival is an important platform for promoting the identity, pride, and rich traditions of the tribal community of Bastar. Through this festival, the culture of the Bastar region will get national recognition.

    The inauguration ceremony of the state-level tribal and folk culture festival “Bastar Pandum 2026” organized by the Culture Department of Chhattisgarh Government will be held on February 7, 2026, at 11 AM in Jagdalpur. The ceremony will be presided over by the Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Raman Deka. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, Tourism and Culture Minister Shri Rajesh Agarwal, Forest and Environment Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap will be specially present as distinguished guests.

    Pandum is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy in the Bastar region. The lifestyle of the tribal society is reflected in this festival. This time, Pandum is being organized with full grandeur, in which presentations from 12 disciplines will be given. Through young artists, Bastar tribal dance, songs, drama, musical instruments, costumes and jewelry, worship methods, Bastar crafts, and tribal paintings will be displayed. In addition, people will also be made aware of tribal beverages, traditional cuisine, regional literature, and Bastar forest medicine.

    Members of Parliament Shri Bhojraj Nag and Shri Mahesh Kashyap, MLAs Shri Kiran Singhdeo, Ms. Lata Usendi, Shri Vikram Usendi, Shri Neelkanth Tekam, Shri Asharam Netam, Shri Chaitram Atami, Shri Vinayak Goyal, Smt. Savitri Manoj Mandavi, Shri Lakheshwar Baghel, Shri Vikram Mandavi, and Mayor Shri Sanjay Pandey, along with many public representatives and a large number of common citizens, will attend the program.
