Suzuki’s first all-electric compact SUV, the e-Vitara, has participated in Euro NCAP’s new crash safety testing and received a 4-star rating. The results demonstrate a robust safety package, although some shortcomings were identified. In the frontal offset test, the e-Vitara’s passenger compartment remained stable, and the safety of the front occupants’ knees and thighs was rated as good. Good safety was also observed for all body parts in the side impact test.

However, in the full-width frontal test, the safety of rear passengers’ heads and chests was rated as medium because of forward movement during the impact. Better results were obtained in the rear impact test, with good ratings for whiplash safety on the front and rear seats. The SUV also features an advanced e-Call system and multi-collision braking, enhancing safety.

Maruti Suzuki India has commenced the export of its first battery-electric car, the e-Vitara. This is considered a significant step in the company’s global electric vehicle plan. The first consignment departed from the Pipavav port in Gujarat in August, comprising over 2,900 vehicles. These vehicles were dispatched to 12 European countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Norway, and Sweden.

The e-Vitara is being produced at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. This plant will serve as the global production hub for this model. The car has previously been showcased at events such as the India Mobility Global Expo in Milan, Italy, and New Delhi. This car is built on Suzuki’s new Heartect-e electric platform.

Maruti Suzuki will also launch it in India and plans to export the model to over 100 countries in the coming years. The complete features and specifications for India have not yet been announced. However, the company has confirmed that the car will be available in Delta, Zeta, and Alpha variants and will offer a range of approximately 500 km on a single charge.
