Maruti Suzuki has launched its new compact SUV, the Victoris. This segment is highly competitive, dominated by vehicles like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Both SUVs offer various engine options, feature-rich interiors, and good safety packages. The Victoris has been introduced to compete directly with these vehicles.

Comparing with the Seltos, both are in the same segment and similar in many ways, but differences emerge based on buyer preferences. Let’s examine the differences in price, specifications, and safety.

    **Price**

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is generally more affordable than the Seltos across most variants. Its base variant is approximately ₹70,000 cheaper than the Seltos. The Victoris is also more economical in mid-variants. However, the difference narrows in the top variants. The Victoris’s strong hybrid variant reaches about ₹20 lakh, while the Seltos’s GTX+ and X-Line variants are slightly above ₹20.5 lakh. In this price bracket, buyers prioritize design and premium features, where the Seltos holds a stronger position.

    **Specifications**

Both SUVs offer three engine options. The Victoris includes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a factory-fitted CNG option, and a strong hybrid engine with the AllGrip Select AWD system. The Seltos, however, features a more powerful 1.5-liter petrol engine. It doesn’t offer CNG or hybrid options but comes with a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The Victoris distinguishes itself with its CNG and hybrid AWD technology, while the Seltos focuses on more powerful petrol and diesel choices.

    **Tech Package**

Both SUVs feature a 10.25-inch display, panoramic sunroofs in high variants, and connected-car features. The Victoris includes a gesture-powered tailgate, 64-color ambient lighting, an Infinity Dolby Atmos 8-speaker system, and OTA updates with Suzuki Connect.

The Seltos offers a dual-screen layout on the dashboard, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and GT/X-Line cosmetic packages. Overall, both SUVs are feature-packed, but the Victoris emphasizes connectivity and cabin ambiance, while the Seltos focuses more on sporty and premium interiors.

    **Safety**

The Victoris has received a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP for safety. It offers six airbags, ESC, a 360° camera, HUD, and Level-2 ADAS tuned for Indian conditions.

The Seltos also has Level-2 ADAS features, but these start only from the GTX+ variant. It received a 3-star rating from Global NCAP in 2020. This indicates that the Victoris is not only safer but also provides ADAS coverage across more variants. The Seltos limits its advanced safety features to high-end variants.
