Nissan, the brand known for popular cars like the Magnite in India, is developing a mid-size SUV. The company plans to launch two new products, including a compact MPV similar to the Renault Triber and a mid-size SUV akin to the Renault Duster. Both models will be based on Nissan’s global designs. The mid-size SUV, derived from the third-generation Renault Duster, is expected to launch in India in early 2026. Nissan has already begun testing this SUV.

A test mule of the upcoming Nissan C-segment SUV was spotted on Indian roads for the first time. The car is anticipated to be available for sale by mid-2026. Although the name is yet to be finalized, it was captured during testing in Tamil Nadu. The images show the car heavily camouflaged, making it difficult to identify specific design features.

Despite the extensive covering, it’s evident that the design will closely resemble the concept model shown a few months ago. It’s also clear that this Nissan SUV will have a different appearance from its Renault counterpart. While both will share the co-developed CMF-B platform, the Nissan design will be based on the brand’s new styling.

The car’s look seems inspired by the flagship Nissan Patrol, featuring a signature grille with dual chrome strips, the Nissan logo in the center, and inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights connected by chrome trim. The front bumper will also differentiate it from the Renault model. The side profile will include square wheel arches, prominent cladding, and robust alloy wheels. The rear will have a sculpted tailgate with a number plate, a roof-mounted spoiler, square tail-lights, and a shark-fin antenna. Information about the interior is not yet available.

In terms of the engine, this SUV will adopt the Renault Duster’s powertrain, which offers various engine and transmission options in international markets. Nissan has not yet specified which engine options will be available in India, but it’s expected to include both naturally aspirated and turbo petrol engines. A strong hybrid powertrain option may also be added later.
