Skoda Auto is set to invigorate the Indian automotive landscape by introducing more of its acclaimed global models. This strategic move aims to broaden the appeal of the Czech manufacturer’s offerings, catering to a wider spectrum of Indian consumers. While the company’s current product range in India spans from approximately Rs 7 lakh to over Rs 40 lakh, immediate plans for electric vehicles (EVs) in the country have been put on hold due to market uncertainties.

According to a senior executive, the initial focus for the upcoming year will remain on locally manufactured vehicles. However, to inject excitement and diversity into the market, Skoda is planning to import select iconic global cars. This follows the successful reintroduction of models like the Octavia. The company did not specify which international models will make their way to India.

Currently, Skoda offers locally produced models such as the Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia, alongside imported vehicles like the Octavia and Kodiaq. The brand is experiencing its most robust year in India to date, with sales exceeding 61,607 units from January to October 2025, surpassing the previous annual record of 53,721 units from 2022. Skoda aims to solidify its 2% market share within the domestic passenger vehicle segment.

Sales momentum, boosted by favorable economic conditions, is anticipated to continue through the end of the year. The company also plans to expand the Kylaq line-up with additional trims and introduce updates for the Kushaq and Slavia models. Regarding its electric vehicle strategy, Skoda acknowledges the global shift towards electrification. However, recent market volatility, including discussions around trade agreements and evolving EV policies, has created challenges in formulating a stable long-term EV plan for India. Despite these delays, Skoda remains committed to future EV development for the Indian market, recognizing its inevitable importance.
