Launched on September 21, 2017, the Tata Nexon, the first compact SUV from Tata Motors, has completed eight years in the market. Notably, the Nexon is the only car available in petrol, diesel, electric, and CNG powertrains. Tata Motors has sold 8,87,607 units of the Nexon to date. By the end of September, this figure is expected to reach close to 900,000. This will make it the first Tata SUV to surpass the 900,000 sales mark.

For many years, the Tata Nexon was India’s number one SUV. However, it was overtaken by its own sibling, the Punch, in fiscal years 2022, 2023, and 2024. Demand is rising again in the current fiscal year, and it is expected to grow further following price cuts due to GST. This stylish compact SUV has played a major role in Tata Motors’ resurgence. By the end of August 2025, a total of 8,87,607 units had been sold in the domestic market, meaning it is now only 12,393 units away from reaching the 900,000 mark.
