A new motorcycle is set to debut in India’s cafe racer segment on August 6th. The Triumph Thruxton 400 will be the third model in India after the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, which have already made their mark in the entry-level premium segment. The new model is expected to enhance the lineup.
The new bike will be the third model built on Triumph’s 400cc platform, developed in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. Upon launch, it will compete with bikes like the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450.
It will feature the same 398cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine found in the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. This engine delivers 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 Nm of torque in those bikes, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. However, the Thruxton’s engine may undergo slight re-tuning for enhanced sporty performance, throttle response, and aggression.
Regarding pricing, the Triumph Speed 400 is priced at ₹2.40 lakh, and the Scrambler 400X at ₹2.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering the Thruxton 400’s premium styling and positioning, it could be priced around ₹2.80 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most expensive bike in Triumph’s 400cc range in India.
Spy photos on social media have already revealed glimpses of the Triumph Thruxton 400, showcasing its retro, stylish, and distinctly British design. Its front fairing appears to be inspired by fighter jets. It is likely to have a round LED headlight, enhancing its powerful look. With low-set clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs, the Thruxton 400 will offer a sporty riding position, crucial for a cafe racer bike.
