The India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) marks a pivotal moment for Indian exporters long overshadowed by agile competitors in Southeast Asia and beyond. Voices from industry confirm it will empower businesses to challenge Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka in the lucrative European arena.

In a candid conversation, Polymedicure’s top executive Himmashu Vaidh underscored the deal’s breadth. Spanning 27 EU countries, the FTA dismantles barriers, promising exponential export growth. ‘Indian companies gain unprecedented market reach,’ Vaidh noted, highlighting tech transfers that could supercharge local production.

European partners stand to benefit too, tapping into India’s booming consumer base. This mutual dynamic is expected to attract investments, bolstering India’s manufacturing ecosystem. Vaidh envisions a ripple effect: enhanced capabilities, job creation, and a stronger global footprint.

Medical devices export council chief R.S. Konwar views it as a boon for healthcare exports. ‘Zero-duty access to life-saving equipment is transformative,’ he said, while urging swift action on regulatory hurdles. True competitiveness demands addressing non-tariff obstacles head-on.

PM Modi’s vision frames the FTA as more than commerce—it’s a prosperity pact. Farmers, small industries, and service providers will find new avenues, fostering inclusive growth. With this deal, India positions itself as a trade titan, ready to rival the best.
