O.P. Jindal Global University marked its first entry into the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026 with remarkable success, topping India’s Law category and ranking globally in the top 300 from 53 nations. In Psychology, it grabbed second place domestically and entered the top 500 worldwide across 64 countries and regions, while strengthening positions in Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, Business & Economics.

This feat places JGU among 2,191 universities from 115 countries that met THE’s stringent standards for data reliability, teaching, and research. The ranking’s backbone is a comprehensive evaluation across four pillars—teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook—with research dominating 60-65% via metrics like quality, environment, and industry influence.

JGU excelled particularly in international outlook for key subjects, signaling high levels of global faculty, student diversity, and research partnerships. Research quality led in Arts & Humanities and Business & Economics, evidenced by strong citations and global impact.

‘Our governance and strategic leadership have positioned JGU confidently among the world’s best,’ said Founder Chancellor Naveen Jindal, congratulating the community. Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Raj Kumar noted, ‘These rankings validate our commitment to academic excellence and innovation, as India rises as a higher education giant.’

Prof. Padmanabha Ramanujam highlighted the debut as a mirror to JGU’s institutional ethos and collective efforts. Nationally and globally, this elevates JGU’s profile, reflecting India’s growing clout with more ranked universities than any country save the US, and signals JGU’s trajectory toward world-class standardization.
