Passengers across India have shown extraordinary enthusiasm for the nation’s pioneering Vande Bharat Sleeper train, with all tickets booking out almost instantly. The Railway Ministry shared this update on Tuesday, following the train’s inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Running between Howrah and Kamakhya, the service embodies years of anticipation for advanced sleeper trains. Its first commercial trip from Kamakhya departs on January 22, 2026, and from Howrah on January 23. Bookings opened at 8 AM on January 19, vanishing within hours on IRCTC and allied sites.
“The response to Vande Bharat Shyan Yaan (27576) has been phenomenal,” stated the ministry. This surge reflects growing preference for high-speed, comfortable overnight travel. Passengers will enjoy cutting-edge facilities, reduced journey durations, and top-tier safety features.
The route will bridge vital gaps in Northeast-Eastern connectivity, boosting economic ties and tourism. As India modernizes its railways, such trains signal a new era of efficient passenger mobility.
Adding to the momentum, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced nine additional Amrit Bharat Express services on key corridors like Bengaluru-Mumbai, Howrah-Delhi, and more, promising broader network expansion.
