In a significant development at Mumbai’s Bandra Court, Kamal Rashid Khan, better known as KRK, was denied interim relief in the Oshiwara firing case. Prosecutors detailed how two shots rang out near residential buildings, with a live cartridge found at the spot. The incident, occurring on January 18, sent shockwaves through the locality, highlighting vulnerabilities in high-density neighborhoods.

Defense counsel mounted a robust challenge, pointing out the logistical impossibilities: shots supposedly aimed at flats 400 meters apart using a gun limited to 20-meter range. KRK distanced himself from the unidentified gunman, stressing his clean record and legitimate firearm permit. He positioned himself as a long-time Mumbai resident and businessman unlikely to abscond.

Adding a layer of intrigue, KRK accused Bollywood rivals of orchestrating the episode due to his acerbic online commentary on movies and stars, particularly on platforms like Facebook. The court weighed these claims against police assertions of a serious public safety breach before remanding him to custody till January 27.

Eyewitness accounts from the scene, including those from Neeraj Kumar Mishra and Prateek Vaidya, confirmed hearing the blasts late at night. No casualties occurred, but the event has intensified scrutiny on celebrity-linked disputes spilling into violence. Authorities are now laser-focused on decoding the firer’s motives and any broader conspiracies.

This ruling sets the stage for intensified interrogations, potentially unraveling deeper networks in Mumbai’s tinsel town underbelly.
