The countdown to ‘Border 2’s theatrical debut on January 23 is intensifying, with fans showering love on its trailers and soundtrack. Amid the hype, lyricist Manoj Muntashir and musician Mithun have fired back at pointed remarks from AR Rahman and Javed Akhtar, defending their work while respecting the icons.

In a candid chat with IANS, Muntashir hailed the public’s enthusiasm. ‘The response to our trailers and songs has been phenomenal—straight from the heart, thank you,’ he shared. ‘Border 2 belongs to the country, immortalizing soldiers’ sacrifices on the big screen.’

Mithun added fuel to the patriotic fire: ‘We’ve poured our souls into this passion project, drawn from real soldiers’ stories. It’ll touch every Indian’s heart. Please see it once.’

Tackling online trolls drawing parallels with the 1997 classic, Muntashir stayed optimistic. ‘Social media’s real-time pulse is invaluable. Negativity is rare; audiences have adored everything. Mithun and I adapt positively, but Border 2 needs no changes—box office glory awaits.’

Javed Akhtar’s admission of turning down song recreations drew a classy retort. ‘His choice is respected. Approaching him was mandatory for authenticity.’

Muntashir took a strong stand against Rahman’s ‘communal’ label on Bollywood. ‘With talents like SRK, Salman, and Akhtar, that’s impossible. Rahman is our pride, but I can’t agree.’ Mithun, starstruck, said, ‘I’m his biggest fan—taught me music. It’s his view; I won’t comment.’

Dismissing AI in music, Muntashir was blunt: ‘AI can’t create emotion. It’s worthless for real music.’

Despite the discourse, the ‘Border 2’ camp remains united, confident that the film’s raw power and soldier-centric narrative will dominate screens and charts alike, proving critics wrong through audience verdict.
