CBFC Clears Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ After Disagreement Over Cuts

Aamir Khan’s upcoming film, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ a spiritual successor to the acclaimed ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ has been approved for release by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, directed by R.S. Prasanna and starring Aamir as a basketball coach, was initially facing potential delays due to disagreements over suggested cuts. Reports indicate that the CBFC requested modifications, which Aamir Khan initially resisted, citing concerns about the film’s creative integrity. However, the issue has since been resolved, paving the way for the film’s theatrical debut on June 20, 2025. ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is a remake of the Spanish film ‘Champions’ (2018) and also stars Genelia Deshmukh.
